Health Initiatives — Kenya 2027

Holding Hands Africa is beginning to plan an exciting Health & Medical Initiative for Kenya in the summer of 2027.

Working Alongside Local Healthcare Providers:

A central part of our vision is to bring a medical team/group to Kenya to work alongside local healthcare professionals and community partners in the Watamu, Gede, and surrounding areas.

Our goal is not to arrive with assumptions about what the community needs. We want to listen first, learn directly from local doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, community health workers, and families, and then determine how our visiting medical team can provide meaningful support.

One of the facilities we will be working with is Gede Sub-County Hospital, a Level 3 public health facility serving the local community.

For 2027, we will connect with hospital leadership to understand their current needs and explore appropriate ways for a visiting medical team to collaborate with their healthcare professionals.

As our plans develop, we will connect with local healthcare leaders, including the hospital administrator and pediatric professionals.

Building the 2027 Medical Team

We are currently exploring the formation of a multidisciplinary medical and healthcare team to travel to Kenya in the summer of 2027.

Depending on the needs identified by our Kenyan healthcare partners, the team could potentially include professionals from areas such as:

  • Physicians and pediatric healthcare professionals

  • Nurses and maternal-health professionals

  • Pharmacists and medication-management professionals

  • Public-health and community-health specialists

  • Clinical research and healthcare operations professionals

  • Other healthcare professionals whose expertise aligns with locally identified needs

Partnership, Not Simply a Medical Mission:

We want to build long-term relationships between healthcare professionals, hospitals, community organizations, and supporters in Kenya and abroad.

The 2027 medical team will be built around a simple principle:

Potential initiatives to include mosquito-net distribution and malaria prevention, maternal and infant health support, pediatric health initiatives, health education, medical supplies and equipment, and other projects identified in partnership with the local healthcare community.

Listen first. Partner locally. Serve where there is genuine need. Build something that can continue.

Over the coming months, Holding Hands Africa will begin speaking with healthcare professionals interested in joining the Kenya 2027 Medical Team and will work with our partners in Kenya to identify the areas where their skills can have the greatest impact.

As the initiative develops, we will share more about the medical team, our Kenyan healthcare partners, specific projects, fundraising needs, and opportunities for individuals and organizations to become involved.

Kenya 2027 is the beginning of something we hope will extend far beyond one trip, building relationships, strengthening healthcare partnerships, and standing alongside communities as they build healthier futures.
